Opt-in Page Format Leaves Visitors Feeling Duped and How You Can Avoid It While Increasing Conversions

Facebook post

This morning, while on Facebook, I saw the following post and when I saw who posted it, I was interested (note that I crossed out identifying info and excluded the name of the person who posted it): She's a respected colleague and I liked the idea of the Challenge so I clicked into the link provided.  When I got to the page, it had little text and asked for 3 things: name email list size There was no identifying info: no … [Read more...]

3 Ways to Manage Your List Building/Nurturing Back-end — and why each has a role on your site

Building Relationships Pic

We often hear that "the money is in the list" and many misunderstand this to be that "the bigger the list, the more money you'll make".  Not necessarily true. It's your relationship with your community (a.k.a. "list") and audience.  When my business first broke $100,000 in revenue, there were 82 people on my list.  It's completely possible and totally doable. That said, you do need more than your family, friends and pets in your … [Read more...]

An Integrity Assessment — Would Your Business Pass?

customer loyalty, integrity and trust crossword

At first glance, it seems as if it'd be tough to provide an assessment on one's integrity.  After all, how do we measure it? Thinking back to my days of internal auditing with the Federal Government, I was looking for the measurement. Then an email arrived from someone indicating that she owed us an apology as she hasn't written her newsletter or provided informative content in quite a while, but it's okay because she's been … [Read more...]

Creating Trust in a Distrustful World

trust

You know, it’s really ironic when we stop to think about it. As business owners, we work hard to create a great “X” (program, product or service), announce it to our database list and the world and sit back wondering why few, if anyone, invest. And yet when we’re on the other side of that table, considering investing in something, we scrutinize every word on the info/sales page, ask ourselves what we know about the person (Do we … [Read more...]

The Downside of PLR (Private Label Rights)

What to trust?

Wikipedia defines Private Label Rights ("PLR") as: "Private Label Content comes in many different formats, including PLR reports, ebooks, articles, graphics, templates and even videos. While licenses differ with each author and seller, the basic premise is that the license permits buyers to re-brand the content under their own name and brand (excluding copyright). In general practice this means that the product can be … [Read more...]

Would you hire yourself?

questionmark

Let me ask you a simple question. . . “Take a look at the services and programs on your website and tell me, would you hire yourself?” Seriously.  Would you hire yourself for each and every thing listed under your services/programs?  No one will know your answer. . .this is between your site and you. If the answer is anything but a resounding "OH YEAH!", it's time for some reflection and possibly additional training. Wondering … [Read more...]

A rose by any other name…

A rose by any other name

Many business owners, particularly online it seems, have had their programs, websites, information pages, intake forms and more taken, copied, borrowed, stolen (fill in your verb of choice) and I've certainly had my share of it. It's a complete lack of integrity on the side of the person who does it. Period. There is no gray area here. They can rationalize it any way they want -- it comes down to laziness and a lack of self confidence in … [Read more...]

Are you in integrity?

videoscreenprint

In addition to everything I share in the video above, I believe the Universe supports us in our integrity and “waits” for us when needed: If you’re overwhelmed and not delivering for current clients, new clients won’t be showing up If you have “money messes” that you’re not cleaning up, new money isn’t going to appear   On the other hand: If you’re serving your current clients and … [Read more...]

“It’s okay to lie to help a client”

lying

"It's okay to lie to help a client" came from a mentor who intentionally credited her client with experience that the client doesn't yet have. The mentor did it publicly (social media) and with the best intentions -- to help her client get clients. In my opinion, it's wrong.  The ends don't justify the means and no good can come of lying, no matter the intentions.   In fact, despite this mentor being a friend, I'll now always question … [Read more...]

The Fine Line Between Inspiration and Imitation

Several months ago, I saw an ezine which looked very similar to mine – same format, same dots, etc.  I sent a note to the publisher and she said “I loved the design of your ezine so I gave it to my graphic designer and asked her to recreate it for me.”  A couple of months ago, I was speaking with a client who said to me “Sandy, I love your passion about what you do and the way you teach it makes everything so easy, … [Read more...]
